Exhibition showcases photography projects

Photographers who document human rights or social justice issues can submit their work for consideration.

The Open Society Foundation is soliciting proposals for its Documentary Photography Project’s next exhibition, “Moving Walls 23.” The project seeks photo-based, documentary projects that address social justice or human rights issues in any region where the Open Society Foundations are active.

The program is interested in showcasing the work of photographers and artists who expand the visual language of documentary photography, including those who use new or creative visual strategies, investigative/storytelling approaches, or technologies.

The exhibition will take place in June 2015 in New York. The foundation will cover the cost of printing and framing, the US$2,500 participation fee and return shipment of photographs. It will also cover participants’ travel and accomodation costs to attend the exhibition’s opening reception and related events.

Applicants who represent marginalized groups and applicants from underrepresented regions, including Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East are encouraged to apply. Women are also encouraged to apply. Five to six projects will be selected.

The submission deadline is Nov. 18.
