Investigative journalists who have reported in developing or emerging countries are eligible for this award.
The Global Shining Light Award, sponsored by the Global Investigative Journalism Network, awards a journalist, journalism team or media outlet that worked under threat, duress or difficult conditions. The winner will be awarded a plaque, US$2,000 and a trip to the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Works must have been broadcast or published between Jan. 1, 2015 and Dec. 31, 2016.
If the original entry is not in English, a detailed English-language summary of a print or online story or an English-language transcript of a broadcast script must be provided.
The deadline is May 15.
