Scholarships available for course on reporting in crisis zones

dartFreelance journalists can apply for a scholarship to attend this course.

The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma is organizing the course “Reporting safely in crisis zones” Oct. 19 to 22 in New York.

Topics include risk assessment, digital security, emergency first aid, trauma care and self-defense.

The course fee is US$1,175. However, the Rory Peck Trust will provide a limited number of scholarships to offset the course fee. These may not be used for travel, lodging or related expenses.

Journalists who are employed full time by a news organization and others are encouraged to apply to attend the course, but will not be considered for a scholarship.

The deadline is July 14.
