Knight Center hosts free online course on trust and verification

PrintAnyone interested in the dynamics of trust and transparency in digital journalism and how to verify digital content and debunk online misinformation can attend this four-week course.

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, through its Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), is offering the free course “Trust and verification in an age of misinformation” April 9 to May 6.

Participants will understand the forces and factors affecting how information flows in the digital environment; analyze social media sharing and web traffic patterns for content; perform verification of online photos and videos, as well as websites and social media accounts; and utilize transparency and other approaches to build trust with the public.

The instructor is Craig Silverman, media editor of BuzzFeed News where he leads a global beat covering platforms, online misinformation, and fake news.

The course is accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
